Should you compete?
Should you compete?
I think everyone should compete and believe there is a lot that is learned from competition and match play. It teaches you to think through situations as well as measure yourself against those around you. It also makes it a lot easier for a coach to gauge weather or not a player is learning and able to apply what they are working on in lessons. Big Difference in being able to play well in practice and preforming in matches.
Now I think parents and kids can get a little freaked out when they hear tournament! Oh no!!! Alright let’s settle down now… they are no different than the weekly soccer games your kids have every Saturday. Don’t make it a bigger deal than they are. Yes some are more important than others but that’s another topic.
There are tournaments held every weekend all over the place, so it shouldn’t be that difficult to find one around your area. (Link listed at end of article). A lot of time goes into this sport and it’s unfortunate when I see players practice but don’t compete, even if its just locally.
Competition is also a part of what makes this sport so enjoyable, so with that being said call a friend and set up a practice match and start looking at the tournament schedule for the year.
